Deal Alert

For those infected with the Mosin Nagant bug, Cabela’s is having a Memorial Day sale.

Mosin Nagant 91/30′s on sale for $119.99 — $30 off from their normal price.

And that is if you can find them in the stores. That price is a bargain around here, guess I’ll be heading to Cabela’s this weekend.

Wonder if I can convince She Who Lets Me Make Her Coffee Every Morning to let me pick up two (gun fun only has funds for 1); I would like to keep my first one in original condition, change out just the sites on a 2nd one and fully sporterize a 3rd one.

    Not to be a complete buzzkill, but Aim Surplus has them for $110 every day, including shipping. ‘Course, you do need a C&R license, but those pay for themselves with your first Brownells order. On the flip side, you do not get to look the rifle over before you buy it, but the one I got from them was in remarkably good shape.

    That said, everyone needs at least two M-Ns. Just because. I, on the other hand, need somewhere to shoot mine… *sigh*

    @KX59,

    Would it help if I promised to think about buying you one while I’m at Cabela’s?

    Or you could take a trip up here this weekend and we hit the range.

    @Linoge,

    Yeah, I need to get off my duff and get my C&R. Have the application but haven’t sent it in.

    I agree people need at least two, trying to fill that gap :) Or better it.

    Of course you could also take a little trip and we hit the range.

    Maddmedic,

    Thanks for the tip on the Fleetfarm — I’ll book mark it. Unfortunately, I noted “Temporarily Out of Stock”

    On that tri-rail mount, If I stick a decent scope on it does that require the bent bolt or can it work with the stock bolt ?

    Supposedly no.

    Seems the Mosins have been going up in price. Just a year ago they could be had for $105 at the gun shows. After seeing them around and finally shooting CTone’s, I picked one up at a gun show but by then the going rate was $120. I now seem them for $135.

    We’re in the middle of another gun panic. I went to order a bolt carrier group for an AR build and can’t find one.

    @Maddmedic,

    I should have rephrased, with the tri-rail I can use the stock straight bolt, right?

    @Broken Andy,

    I think everything has been going up in price or not been available. One of the reasons I went ahead and got the 2nd Mosin. They are normally $149 at Cabela’s and they can’t keep them in stock.

    Military Gun Supply used to have a dozen in stock at all times, now they can’t keep them on hand.

    Wish I could have afforded two today :(

    No gun smithing required is what I am hearing about it. So you can leave the bolt alone,….;)

    I can recall the first crate of M44 Mosin Nagants I bought 6 years ago. I think they worked out to 70 dollars per rifle. They had a heck of a time selling the 9130s at the time because everyone wanted the carbines. Now that the carbine M44s are all gone, the 9130s are selling like mad.
    If you can’t find them locally, try Wideners.

    I guess I need to buy a couple more before they wind up being the next Mauser and hitting the 200-300 dollar mark. A Boyd’s stock, a bull barrel, a side mounted scope (like the M44 I brought to the blog shoot that had the Boyd stock on it), and a quick trigger job, and you’ve got one nice target rifle for less than 400 bucks.
