Assault Weapons For Life

President Barack Obama on Thursday signed into a law a measure giving him, George W. Bush and future former presidents and their spouses lifetime Secret Service protection, the White House announced.

The legislation, crafted by Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, rolls back a mid-1990s law that imposed a 10-year limit on Secret Service protection for former presidents. Bush would have been the first former commander in chief affected.

At the time, lawmakers who supported the measure said it would save the government millions of dollars. They also argued that former presidents could hire private security firms (as Richard Nixon did after he decided to forgo Secret Service protection in 1985).

So our Glorious Leader decides he and his family deserves to be protected by assault weapons for life while apparently working to make it harder for other citizens to have firearms.

Washington (CNN) — The White House said President Barack Obama supports reinstatement of a federal ban on assault weapons — a position he took in the 2008 campaign but failed to press during his first term. “It does remain a commitment of his,” presidential spokesman Jay Carney told reporters as the nation reeled from a mass shooting in Connecticut that mainly killed school children.

Apparently HE is deserving of the protection of select fire weapons with 20 or 30 round magazines but We The People¬† aren’t. What a hypocrite.

It is definitely time for a Constitutional Amendment requiring every member of the government to be subjected to the same laws as the ones they pass

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the President, Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the President,¬† Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”

Please join the discussion, I’ll be back to talk about it as soon as my blood pressure drops to safe levels.

I think it would be amazing how fast things actually got fixed, were those who make the laws required to actually LIVE by their laws.
