News for Asthmatics

This is interesting news; sounds like there is a new diagnostic tool available.

A machine in the office uses fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) to measure airway inflammation, the major cause of asthma. The amount of nitric oxide in exhaled breath shows if airways are inflamed.

This machine sounds like it can help pinpoint when medication levels need to be adjusted and that would improve quality of life for many people. Myself included.

I don’t talk about my asthma much here; I figure most people don’t need to know and don’t care. It does affect a few things I do; some outdoor activities, prepping, etc. Yes, I take my medical condition into consideration when I prep. Mostly in the form of keeping a ready supply of medicine available and having over the counter alternatives in case the prescriptions run out.

Looking at the pictures at the link, I saw this

Doctors use this device to test asthma patients for sensitivity to common triggers.

I wonder if it will replace/enhance the common skin scratch test to determine what people are allergic to. That would be a benefit; a pleasant benefit.
